Citizenship in the Community

This important Eagle-required badge can be challenging to complete and requires Scouts to exercise some initiative:  A meeting of a board of aldermen should be attended, and it is highly recommended that Scouts attend in uniform.  They may be recognized by the board and have a chance to introduce themselves.  Take a printed agenda as proof of attendance and be prepared to explain the issues discussed.  Scouts may want to arrange to attend together with their buddies.

  • Manchester:   The Board of Aldermen meet on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of every month at 7:30 p.m.  Meetings are open to the public and held at 200 Highlands Blvd. Drive.
  • Ballwin: The Board of Aldermen meet on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the Ballwin Police Department, 300 Park Drive.

Eight hours of community service for a non-profit organization that serves the local community are required, which is the challenging one.  The parish is one acceptable  organization, but there are many organizations in the area.  Multiple Scouts may want to team up on ideas and arrange to work together.
