Here you'll find short notes about upcoming activities and also sub-pages with more detailed information about bigger opportunities.
We are camping at Beaumont and have reserved the new climbing tower. This is more similar to the tower at Camp Lewallen that many of our Scouts are familiar with than it is to the old Beaumont tower, but unlike the Lewallen tower this one also supports rapelling.
New Scouts will also get an introduction to troop camping, earn their Totin' Chip and Firem'n Chit by learning about knife, axe, saw, and fire safety and techniques. This applies to several rank requirements.
This is one campout planned entirely by the adult leaders, and the Scouts only find out where we're camping and what we're doing as the weekend unfolds. It usually features something unexpected and out of the ordinary for a weekend campout. Parents are told our plans, but usually at the last minute to prevent leaks.
Camp at Pere Marquette State Park in Illinois and on Saturday bike the Sam Vadalabene Bike Tail along the Mississippi.
We'll spend one night on the USS Razorback, a WW-II submarine in Little Rock, Arkansas. Friday night we'll camp somewhere in the area of Little Rock. We may want to leave a bit earlier than usual because of the longer drive time, but those details will be worked out as the date approaches.
